They're playing a game where you use your finger to flick a paper ball into a waste basket. As Peter says, there's probably no bigger waster of time. But he said that after he played it for about 20 minutes, so obviously he liked it.

Playing with the iPad
Marshall loves playing with our iPads. We don't let him do it very often, but he asks to do it much more than we let him. Usually when he has my iPad something weird happens - music will start playing, or I'll look at the screen and he's about to buy something. Luckily he can't without a password. Anyway, I was able to snap a few cute shots of Hannah and Marshall looking at my iPad.
