Family History

I spent lots of time in January going through a box of my father's family history and early childhood life. It was fun to look at all of the old photos and memories. It made me very grateful for those who took the time to record memories and other histories of family members. Without that history written down, those stories and snapshots of those people would be gone.

Here are a few of my favorite pictures from what I scanned.

Early pictures of my dad:

There's a lot more, and lots of stories and histories that I scanned, as well. I feel like right now my calling isn't just to find names (although I hope to do some of that, too), but really to capture the stories about the people. I've been working with my mom in writing down her personal history. I have probably about 15 hours of interviews recorded and transcribed. I need to go over to Rochester again and find her family photos so I can do something similar to what I have for my Dad, now. We only found a few pictures of a family trip, and a picture of her mom when she graduated from high school.
