Thanksgiving Day in Lancaster

We travelled to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, this year for Thanksgiving. Alyson and her family moved there this summer, so they were able to host. Wade came from Maui, and our whole familiy was together for the first time in a looong time - I think since my wedding almost 10 years ago. So it was really fun to get together with everyone and we had a great visit.

We got there late on Wednesday night, since Spencer had school and Peter had to work on Wednesday. Then we woke up early Thursday morning and went to a nearby town to run a 5K. I was very slow - I think I got 30:30. But considering there were hills and I was 4 months pregnant, I was happy with it.  Ethan, Kent, Wade, April and Scott also ran. Peter stayed with the kids during the 5K.

There was a 1 mile children's run at the beginning before the 5K. Spencer, Colin, Marshall, Adam, and Jane ran that. I also ran that with Marshall as sort of my warm-up, although it was a pretty ugly run, since he wasn't sure he was going to run until the buzzer went off, and I was still fumbling with my coat, race number, t-shirt, etc.  The kids did a great job and had fun running.

Here are some pictures of the kids at the race:

They gave the kids ribbons and keychains when they finished. They all seemed very excited about them.

Peter ran around with the kids during the race, and there was a guy with a tackle bag thing that he let them try out.

And then the adults finished the race. After we were done we had a few refreshments, walked around a bit to cool down, then went back to Alyson's house to get ready for the rest of the Thanksgiving festivities.

Dinner was delicious - turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole (thanks for your help, Madeleine!), cranberry sauce, and, of course, rolls. I tried to snap some pictures of the kids' table, although it was hard to get anyone to pose very well. Can you blame them? They were hungry.
