Pinewood Derby

Spencer joined Cub Scouts this year and absolutely loves it. He is our social butterfly and loves to be with other people and loves to be involved and doing stuff. It's a perfect fit. This was our family's first Pinewood Derby and I still feel like we have a lot to learn. Spencer was just excited to do it and get it done that he didn't care much for what it looked like. And Peter doesn't always love to read the directions and figure out how to make things work the best way. Anyway, the first time down the track it didn't even cross the finish line. I think I actually took it harder than Spencer did. I was really sad that something we did or didn't do would disappoint him. But Peter took it up to the judges' table and asked for advice. They put graphite on the wheels and that helped a lot. It finished near the front or middle of the pack in every race after that. Phew. At least it wasn't a total embarrassment.

I didn't get many pictures - my camera battery died after I took 3 pictures. Another sad mommy moment. But at least we got a few to remember the experience.
