Mother's Day

I don't have any pictures to go with this post, but thought I should talk about it anyway. I had a very nice and relaxing Mother's Day. Peter didn't have his early morning Sunday meetings (which usually start at 7:30 am), so he got to stay home and not leave me to deal with the kids and get them ready for church on my own - that was my first present. He let me sleep in and then took the three older ones off to church, so I got some more quiet time with Emma. Spencer gave me a cute present he made at school - stationery with thumb fingerprints decorated to look like bugs and a pen wrapped in florists' tape to look like a flower. Very cute. And Marshall gave me 11 cents, wrapped in a piece of computer paper. Thanks, buddy. His piggybank is now empty because he keeps sneaking money out and into my change holder. He is so generous with what he has.

After church, we had sandwiches and then everyone laid down for naps. Marshall put up a big fight, but finally surrendered to the inevitable and fell asleep. Spencer was the only one who didn't take a nap.

Peter made a delicious dinner for me - chicken parmesan, roasted asparagus, and French bread with bruschetta. It was very good and I was impressed that he did it all on his own. He also made strawberry shortcake for dessert. Yummy!

The present was a series of dates with each of the kids and with him. It was very sweet. Here's the note:

Dear Mom,

We thought what better way gift to give you for Mother’s Day than time with each of us.  So, one of us is going to take you on a special date each of the next 5 weeks.  Here’s what you have to look forward to:
May 18th

Emma - take a break from the hectic daily schedule with a quiet afternoon at home.  You and your littlest will enjoy peace and quiet as you play Sleeping Beauty.
Week of May 19th

Spencer – a fun evening putting around the greens at Adventure Landing mini-golf course followed by a sweet frosty treat at Wendy’s.

Week of May 26th

Marshall – get your game on for hot competition in a bowling showdown at Transit Lanes then cool things down with a summer blizzard at Dairy Queen.
June 8th

Hannah – pick up some grub at Fire House Subs and then on to Garrison Park for an afternoon play date with your little banana.

June 15th

Peter (and Emma) – dinner at a place of your choice followed by a movie back at home.

I'm a lucky Momma and I'm so grateful for my sweet husband and kids. It was a great day.

Oh - I guess I can add one picture. We sent both of our moms this cute print of the kids that we made them for Mother's Day.
