30-day photography challenge

I have been wanting a nice camera for a while. I put a slickdeal alert on them, and have been watching deals and waiting. When what seemed like a good deal came along, I finally bit. I still can't believe it. It seems like there is a gigantic learning curve for photography and everything that comes along with it, and I'm not sure if I'm really ready to devote the time to it now. But my sister-in-law helped convince me to take the plunge, so here I am.

I decided to help me get practice and learn how this thing works, at least a little, I would try a 30-day photography challenge. I got started a little late, and did three of the challenges yesterday, but now I'm on track.  Here they are:

Day 1: Take a picture of yourself

There I am. Nothing fancy. Although knowing I would actually have to take and post a picture of myself prompted me to brush and dry my hair, which probably would not have happened otherwise.

Day 2: Take a picture of what you are wearing.

There I am again. I am wearing black loung pants, a t-shirt from a race I did two years ago, and a white sweatshirt. Except for the shirt, it is also what I wear the day before. Taking this picture also prompted me to make my bed, which also doesn't happen very often.

Day 3: Take a picture of your favorite place to be.

This is a little hard, and I was limited, since I couldn't really go on vacation or anything to take the picture. But I decided that one of my favorite places to be is on the running trail by our house. So I loaded the kids in the car and we went on a (very) short walk and took some pictures. Spencer seemed excited to get out and he (unprompted) helped me with this action shot showing what I like to do.  I usually run from our house to the trail, which is about 1 mile away. I cross that street (you can see behind the light pole where the trail cuts up). And then I run on that path. Where I cross is about .12 miles away from the trailhead, so the mile markers are pretty close and help me know how far I've gone. There are markers every .1 mile. It's been nice to live so close to a path, since it seems silly to drive somewhere to go running, but I also don't want to run along streets all the time. This is perfect.

Day 4: Take a picture from a high angle.

These are my cute kids in the bath. Spencer and Marshall had swimming lessons tonight, so they usually get a bath afterward. And Hannah loves to join in on the fun. They all love bath time and it's so cute to see them all in there together.
