Christmas in the City

The city of Lockport had a special Christmas celebration day. It started with a showing of Polar Express at the Palace Theater. Peter and I were surprised and a little disappointed by how scary it was. We thought at one poing we might need to leave, but we decided to stick it out. I think it was good we stayed to the end, but I don't think I would ever let the kids watch it again. After the movie we went to go take a carriage ride. A horse took a carriage around a parking lot. The kids seemed to like it.

It was cold while we were waiting. I gave Hannah my gloves to keep her hands warm.

After the carriage ride we went to the library to do some Christmas tree crafts and get warm.

Later in the day we went to the dollar store to go to leave dollar bills for kids as a Random Act of Kindness. We left them in the toy section with a note for them to buy their favorite toy as a surprise treat.

We went to the Village of Williamsville that evening for the tree lighting ceremony. We sang Christmas carols, they lit up the Christmas tree, then we went to get hot chocolate and cookies. Santa also made an appearance. It's fun that the village does that kind of stuff. A few years ago there was a referendum to see if the Village of Williamsville would dissolve and combine with the Town of Amherst. It was defeated, and I'm glad it was because I would be afraid that that kind of thing wouldn't happen, anymore.

It was a fun day and a nice way to start off the holiday season.
